Special Rules in addition to the General Rules:
1. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded at the discretion of the adjudicator. Gold medals will be awarded for 88 marks or over. Only one Gold medal may be awarded in each class. Certificates: 75 and over.
2. All competitors must be ready 20 minutes before their own class time.
3. All copies of work must be typed or clearly written, with the competitor's name clearly visible.
4. All book's for the adjudicator must have the relevant place marked and show the competitor's name. They must not be collected until after the adjudication.
5. Should any unforeseen circumstances arise the committee reserve the right to modify or cancel any event at their discretion.
6. Time limits as stipulated must be strictly observed and include introductions where applicable, competitors who exceed the time limit allowed may be stopped.

SPEECH SECTION
RECITAL: Time Limit 7 minutes.
Competitors to choose four poems and present their reasons for selection with INTRODUCTION AND LINKED COMMENTS. One poem to be recited from memory and one to be read.

VERSE SPEAKING: Time Limit 3 minutes. Own choice of poem.

A minimum of 10 competitors. Own choice of TWO contrasting pieces i.e. Poem, Psalm, Chorus from a play.

SIGHT READING: Time Limit 3 minutes.
Competitors will be given a Prose or Verse extract and asked to read without preparation.

PROSE READING: Time Limit 3 minutes.
Competitors to present a book of their own choice from which the adjudicator will choose a passage for them to read. The plot must be introduced to the adjudicator and audience.

PROSE SPEAKING: Time Limit 3 minutes.
Competitors to speak a passage from a book of their own choice. The extract MUST BE MEMORISED. The plot should be introduced and the extract put in the context of the story.

BIBLE READING: Time Limit 3 minutes.
Any version of the Bible may be used. The passage to be read should be clearly marked in a second copy for the adjudicator to follow.

Competitors will be given 10 minutes to prepare a story of their own invention which must include the three words or phrase given by the adjudicator.

Competitors to introduce their selected theme and present a speech of their own choice. Prompt cards may be used.

From a choice of four subjects given by the adjudicator. 15 minutes will be allowed to prepare a speech.
