Stage Dancing Special Rules in addition to General Rules


1. Marks as follows:   











2. Medals will be awarded at the Adjudicator’s discretion.

3. No pointe work in classes Baby, A, B or C.

4. In Song & Dance, the song must be suitable for the age of the competitor and the dance must tell the
story of the song. No vocal backing is permitted in this class.

5. In Character, Greek and Group classes, titles only will be announced. A synopsis of not more than 20
words may be given to the caller prior to the class.

6. Competitors may perform ONCE only in their age group in each dance technique in a Solo section.
They may perform in only FIVE Duets and FIVE Trio/Quartet sections overall.

7. It is the teacher’s responsibility to check that their chosen music adheres to time limits.

8. Any re-dancing is at the Adjudicator’s discretion.

9. Competitors must be ready to dance 20 minutes prior to the start of the class.

10. The Dancing Committee shall have the power to resolve any ad hoc matter not provided for in the
rules and their decision shall be final.

11. Teachers must not go into the wings, unless supervising children under 9 years, without the
permission of the Committee.

12. Trophies must be returned by day one of the Festival in a clean and suitable condition for
presentation during Festival Week.

13. No tapping sound is permissible on tapes/CDs in Tap Sections.

14. The Committee reserves the right to refuse entries.

15. Accompaniment can be either tape or CD.
